Who says winter isn’t a good time for senior sessions? I’d like to prove them wrong. How cute are these outfits that Hannah brought? The best thing about winter portraits means lots of layers, which always adds a different dynamic to photos. I LOVED the scarf she brought for her first outfit, and don’t even get me started on the second outfit! Talk about a gorgeous dress, not to mention the floor length fur coat to go along with it! Insert all the heart-eyes here.
So, back to the beginning. Hannah and her mom contacted me sometime in November, and we set up Hannah’s senior session for December 8th. Our plan was to meet at Union Station in Kansas City, and go from there. Of course, if you’ve ever been to Union Station in December, then you’ll know how insanely busy it is everyday because of the holiday season, ESPECIALLY on a Saturday. This particular Saturday also had an event going on in the Grand Hall, so that whole portion of Union Station was closed off to the public. All of these facts made the beginning of this session rather difficult. But, we still managed to find some space upstairs by the gorgeous giant windows to get some shots indoors. Then we decided to just leave Union Station behind and take the pedestrian bridge into the Crossroads.
I’ve always seen pictures of this particular bridge, but I never had any idea where it was. Surprise! It’s actually attached to Union Station. I was stoked when I finally figured this out, as I’ve always wanted to shoot in this location. Tired of battling all of the people inside Union Station, we took to the bridge. Considering the cold weather, we mostly had the bridge to ourselves, which was great. Add in perfect lighting, a powerful backdrop, and a beautiful senior, and I think we created some magic.
