Ben & Grace Waltz | Minneapolis Wedding
A beautiful and elegant wedding held in Minneapolis. Second shooting for Empiria Studios.
This summer I have the absolute pleasure of second shooting for Athena of Empiria Studios. Athena is an absolute gem and we were pretty much best friends after the first ten minutes of shooting together. On this specific Saturday, we photographed the most beautiful and elegant wedding in Minneapolis at Westminster Presbyterian, with the reception held at Windows on Minnesota on the 50th floor of the IDS Center, the tallest building in Minnesota. With floor to ceiling windows, this venue does not disappoint. You can see out over all of Minneapolis and the surrounding suburbs, with the prime view for sunset. It definitely made me second guess my decision to move to Kansas City!
The ceremony was held at a church nearby, and we all had fun trying to get there while there was a protest going on in the city, blocking our path there. It all worked out though, and I had a great time walking around a part of Minneapolis that I had never seen before. Fun fact, the Governor and a couple Senators even attended the wedding, since Grace works in government. The best part though? After the ceremony, we all got a ride back to the reception venue on the back of pedi bikes! There’s nothing quite like being biked through the streets of downtown with a wedding party, and the Governor trailing right behind you in his car. Huge shoutout to the driver (biker?) of Athena and I’s cab, as he peddled all over the place making sure we were able to get the best shots!
Everything about this day was simply gorgeous – the couple, the locations, the donuts, the views. I had so much fun photographing this wedding beside Athena, and I can’t wait for the next time I get to work with her! Check out her work at Empiria Studios.
